The lead consultant and founder of Ottersbrook is Mike Ormesher, Director & General Manager.

 

Mike has over 38 years’ experience across advanced manufacturing, DfMA, and project management, leading delivery teams and driving disruptive innovation predominantly within the housing sector. For the past six years, Mike has led Ottersbrook Consulting Ltd as a specialist consultant and is an RICS‑registered Expert Witness specialising in Modern Methods of Construction (MMC). Mike's work and clients span across the UK, East and South Asia, the West Indies, the United States, and Scandinavia.

An Honorary Research Professor at the University of Salford for more than a decade, Mike also serves as Project Director for the Offsite Homes Alliance (OSHA), a public‑sector collaboration delivering over 10,000 MMC homes per annum across 23 social housing providers, primarily in the North West of England.

 

Mike brings substantial board‑level experience, including oversight of R&D, building physics, and building pathology investigation programmes, alongside a longstanding background in manufacturing, public affairs and strategic management activities.

Mike is a regular national and international conference speaker and holds extensive industry, governmental, and academic affiliations. His current roles include;

 

• Membership of the University of Salford’s Industry Advisory Board and Graduate Mentoring and Employability Programme;

• The RICS/LRQA/BOPAS steering group for the Industrialised Construction Compliance Scheme;

• Panel member of UKRI’s £85m fund for the “Industrialising and Digitalising Construction Challenge”;

• Roundtable member of the Government’s Industrialised Construction APPG, supporting development of the Government’s forthcoming Long‑Term Housing Strategy.
